SEESHA (Samiti for Education, Environment, Social and Health Action) is a non-profit, non-government organisation working towards the elimination of poverty and the empowerment of downtrodden communities. It is a registered Charitable Trust, headquartered in Chennai and working across communities in over 16 States of India. PROGRAMME VERTICALS: Education, Health, Environment and Livelihood MAJOR AREAS OF WORK: - Child Development: Child learning centres, educational support, scholarships, school kits, distribution of new clothes, talent hunts, holistic development - Youth: Higher education support, employability enhancement, skill-training - Women Empowerment: Vocational training, widow pensions, entrepreneurial development, financial education, nutritional & support for pregnant women/lactating mothers - Senior citizens: Old Age Care Home, village outreach - Differently-abled persons: Special education, Occupational therapy, physiotherapy/rehabilitative therapy, distribution of assistive devices & retro-fitment motor vehicles - Persons in need of medical and psychological health care: Through the SEESHA Hospital, medical & surgical camps, SEESHA Transformation Centre - Rural/Slum/Tribal/Gypsy communities: Community Advancement Programmes (CAP) - Transgenders: Livelihood support, health education - Children living with HIV: Educational scholarships, nutritional supplements, counselling - Disaster response: Rescue support, distribution of relief materials, rehabilitation of affected communities, early warning and disaster prevention
