Sekhmet Institute

SEKHMET is an NGO based in Prishtina, Kosovo. Our mission is to contribute to the democratization of Kosovo by embracing our civic duty to fight for justice. We aim to occupy the public space with competence and responsibility while nurturing processes that promote wellbeing for all. SEKHMET is dedicated to promoting justice and respect for human rights, particularly for women, LGBTIQ+ individuals, and those excluded from power, representation, and recognition. We support inclusive social and cultural change. In a landscape where many organizations focus on legal, psychological, or health services for the queer community, SEKHMET has chosen a distinct path. We harness the power of media and the arts to challenge the erasure of queer experiences from Kosovo’s public discourse. Our initiatives include a range of expressions – from podcasts and articles to exhibitions and street art.
