SEL for Prevention

SEL for Prevention provides curriculum and professional development for elementary school (K-5: Camp MakeBelieve Kids Adaptable), upper elementary school (4-6: Camp MakeBelieve Kids Digital) and middle school (6-8: STEP UP), as well as after school programs and therapeutic/other groups. STEP UP is listed as an effective, evidence-based program in SAMHSA’s National Registry for Evidence-Based Programs & Practices (NREBPP) and in the Collaborative for Academic, Social & Emotional Learning (CASEL) and is shown to promote self-regulation, social competence, empathy, and responsibility, essential protective factors in the prevention of suicide. The SEL for Prevention programs were created by Pamela Goldberg, LMFT, in consultation with experts in the fields of education, mental health, and prevention science. The SEL for Prevention 8-Step programs are brought to life by artists, singers, writers and illustrators. Goldberg has spent over two decades developing and testing the materials used in the programs. Mission: To promote strong mental health in communities by equipping all children with essential knowledge, resources, and tools to safely and effectively manage social, emotional, and academic stressors so they may thrive. Vision: To partner with school districts, mental health centers, and community organizations, providing them with the highest quality curricula, materials, and support at the lowest possible cost through the distribution, dissemination, and further development of the SEL for Prevention programs. SEL for Prevention is the DBA for CMB Kids, LLC.
