About Selah Support Foundation
The Selah Support Foundation encompasses an interconnected chain of humanitarian non-profit support services. Emerald Light Initiative supports adolescent girls with unintended pregnancies, along with their children, because we believe that an event of unplanned pregnancy should never lead to a lifetime of stigma or a shattered future. Instead of punishment, we focus on healing and rebuilding. We provide holistic mental, emotional, social, educational, and financial support through: • 🗣️ Online and in-person counseling for young mothers and their families • 🤝 Support groups that connect pregnant adolescents and their families to the much-needed help • 🌱 Mentorship programs led by women who have walked a similar path • 🧍♀️ Accompaniment to their first two antenatal and postnatal visits • 📚 Afterschool academic coaching • 💸 Financial aid for returning to school, starting a trade, or enrolling in apprenticeships We raise awareness about the harm caused by stigmatising attitudes and social exclusion—and the risks associated with unsafe abortions. We also offer comprehensive sexual and relationship education to young people, and collaborate with other NGOs that share our vision of empowerment, safety, and hope. The Grey Hair Initiative takes care of older people in Nigerian communities who are made vulnerable by abject poverty, ill health, neglect and subpar social status. The Gems Initiative is concerned with providing need-based support for the young ones – children, teenagers and youths.
