Established in 1995, SELCO was co-founded by Dr Harish Hande. SELCO is a social enterprise working primarily in the area of decentralised renewable energy solutions in the rural geographies of India. SELCO views energy access as an underlying precondition to catalyse progress related to healthcare, quality education, sustainable livelihoods, financial inclusion and holistic development of underserved communities. The success of any development project largely depends on the ecosystem and strategic partnerships built during execution. SELCO has always believed that CSR funds should be used to foster innovation and create efficient processes & replicable delivery models that uplift a complete hamlet/community & can reach the last mile. At SELCO, the rural underserved are looked at as partners, innovators, inventors, and enterprise owners to develop truly inclusive solutions. SELCO works across different geographies through its 66 energy centres and has solar powered more than 6,50,000 houses, provided digital education solutions to 3000+ schools, solar powered more than 500 health centres and created more than 7500 microentrepreneurs.
