JALT Sendai

JALT Sendai is the local chapter of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to the improvement of language teaching and learning both within Japan and internationally. JALT has nearly 3,000 members, with 35 chapters and 26 special interest groups (SIGs). At JALT Sendai we try to present a varied program of stimulating presentations for language teaching professionals in the Miyagi and Fukushima areas. Meetings are typically held on the last Sunday afternoon of each month in Sendai's city center, followed by drinks and eats, but currently meetings are held online via zoom. Presentations cover topics from the practical to the theoretical, and are aimed at language teachers across the educational spectrum. JALT takes pride in its international composition and in the worldwide forum it provides to exchange ideas and techniques in language education. JALT members come from all educational sectors, ranging from preschool teachers to graduate school professors, from individuals just beginning their teaching careers to veterans with extensive experience.
