The Sentinel Project is a registered Canadian non-profit dedicated to detecting and averting genocide. We are currently looking for committed volunteers to take some key leadership roles within our organization.
The Sentinel Project operates on the principle that genocide is predictable: key indicators within a community’s political, social and economic state can be used to understand when the risk of genocidal violence is imminent. We believe that information technology can be used to aggregate and analyze the data required to develop this early warning system.
We also explore mechanisms that may be used to avert genocidal violence once a high-risk situation has been identified. Here too we believe that application of technology, particularly information technology, can be instrumental in diffusing and dampening explosive situations.
