Since The price of Natural Gas is much lower than the others fuels, it has been a vital role in socio economic development of our country. Though in the past Khulna achieved its fame as Industrial-rich area, It could not be flourished as expected due to non-availability of Natural Gas. With an aim of grooming a well balanced development of the country the Sundarban Gas Company Limited started as journey by supplying gas to different classes of customers of south-western part of the country, more specifically in Khulna. On 23 November 2009 a state owned distinct Company named “Sundarban Gas Company Limited” (SGCL) of Petrobangla was registered at the office of Registrar of Joint Stock Companies & Firms of Khulna. The franchise area of the Company includes Khulna division, Barisal division and greater Faridpur district. The main responsibilities of this Company are to construct distribution pipelines, provide gas connections and post connection services in its franchise area.
