Shalamar Children is a group of residential care homes for children, based around the Colchester area.
We specialise in using a therapeutic approach when dealing with our young people, with a particular focus on attachment theory.
We believe strong attachments/relationships with our carers to be the best way to handle challenging behaviours. It's also the best way to restore confidence and self-esteem.
We don't want to plaster over our young people's issues by teaching them that misbehaving is bad. Instead, we offer a safe environment for our young people to start healing, until they no longer feel that they have to behave in these ways to get their needs met.
We believe in connection, not correction.
