Dr Uma Deavi, Founder and Head Designer, started Shivanjali Crafts when she noticed that women who came to the clinic were repeatedly sick and malnutritioned because of poverty. She wanted to empower them with life skills that were easy-to-teach and easy-to-learn so that these women could support themselves and their families.
When Shivanjali Crafts was started in 1997, Dr Uma created traditional South Indian kids wear, because she had lots and lots of love for children and she found delight in dressing them in our ethnic clothes.
“Little Indians” is our line of Indian Ethnic Wear for children made from pure cottons. Our designs are minimal and contemporary. They bring the evergreen charm of the ‘paavadai sattai’ for little girls and kurta-pyjama for little boys. Our creations are the perfect blend of comfort and elegance for the little one wearing Little Indians.
“The Kannamma doll” is an original and unique design developed from scratch and perfected over the years by our team of Homemakers turned Dollmakers. Kannamma dolls were born from the need to recycle the fabric bits left over from the Little Indians clothes that we created.
