Shovel Me

Shovel Me was a digital online snow shoveling platform, similar to Uber. It was launched in the winter of 2019, by student Jason Van Humbeck. His objective was to assist his community by enabling residents to easily connect with snow shovelers in a reliable and timely manner. Additionally, he aimed to create part-time job opportunities for hardworking teens in his area. After three years in operation, the service became one of the largest in the area, serving hundreds of clients and employing a team of 40 shovelers. However, the business and website (formerly ShovelMe.ca) are now defunct, as the owner decided to close it down upon leaving for post-secondary school. Nevertheless, during its brief existence, Shovel Me successfully achieved both of its goals, generating tens of thousands of dollars in income for local students, while also benefiting the community at large.
