Die Buchstaben „LEaR“ stehen für Leadership, Education and Responsibility. Der Name ist Programm: Junge ambitionierte berufstätige Frauen bei der Entwicklung und Erreichung ihrer beruflichen Ziele zu begleiten, ist bereits seit 2002 Ansporn und Ziel des Mentoring-Programmes von Soroptimist International Deutschland. 2017 wurde es durch die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Mentoring mit Auszeichnung zertifiziert. Das Mentoring-Programm wird seit 2012 vom Verein SI LEaR e. V. mit großem Erfolg durchgeführt.
Der Verein SI LEaR e. V. dient der Unterstützung und Umsetzung der weltweiten Programmarbeit von Soroptimist International. Er führt im Rahmen seines Satzungszweckes insbesondere Projekte zur Förderung von Mädchen und Frauen für künftige Führungsaufgaben durch und wirbt Spenden sowie Fördermittel für solche Programme ein.
