The SIAA was established in May, 2022 to provide a unified response opposing the USFWS proposed bans of numerous sturgeon species that would remove the vast majority of available sustainably farm-raised sturgeon from commercialization within the U.S.A. In addition to the vast decline of farmed supply the sturgeon industry would experience, the bans would put additional stress on the wild populations the bans intend to protect, as well as have the potential ripple effects on any similar species.
