Sierra Metro is a creative space and gallery based in Leith. A place to gather, work and connect with exhibitions, coffee, workspaces and spaces to hire, everyone is welcome. Within the Gallery we are committed to artist-centred practice and our intention is to showcase and support visual artists. We aim to engender a climate of flexibility and experimentation for everyone who exhibits in the space, and offer broad public access to contemporary art experiences and discussions. Sierra Metro reopened in 2022 after a pause on activity and is run by Janine & Allan Matheson.
Sierra Metro was founded in 2008 by Janine Matheson and Martin Minton / after Martin left in 2009, the curatorial collaboration continued with Janine Matheson, Rosalie Doubal & Matt Carter until 2012.
