A fundamental shift in the customer base is taking place and society is at the cusp of a new type of consumer for this service. These are the post WWII “Baby Boomers” who experienced the Apollo Moon Landings, Woodstock and the Swinging Sixties. The profile of this generation is quite different from what the traditional service offering has been built upon. These customers have an early adapter attitude to technology, are most comfortable with face to face communication, have a proactive approach to their careers with their signature product being the television. Always a powerful force for transformation, they are primed to forever change the way we look at ageing, retirement and living spaces for elderly people. Now in their 60s they insist that society can, and should, do better for them. Furthermore, their children (Generation X) are also stakeholders in this relationship. Often, they are the key transactional financial customer. They too have heightened expectations and higher standards.
