These areas have included M&A and reinsurance tax structuring, investment tax planning, organizational tax efficiency and optimization strategies, Joint Committee of Congress IRS exam case resolution, tax director outsourcing, global insurance tax compliance and IFRS/GAAP/SSAP 101 tax accounting to name a few.
Mr. Simkin has personally served hundreds of publicly traded and privately held insurance companies , including domestic and foreign stock and mutual P&C and L&H insurance companies, reinsurance companies, risk retention groups, reciprocals, HMOs and captive insurance companies. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Simkin led a multi-regional area of Ernst & Young’s insurance tax practice and was a member of KPMG’s insurance tax practice. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Texas, at Austin, is a long-standing member and Past President of the Texas Chapter of the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (“IASA”) and has been a featured speaker at a variety of insurance industry conferences.
