Simkin CPA, LLC is a U.S. based insurance tax advisory firm headquartered in Dallas, Texas . The Firm provides a full suite of tax services dedicated to insurance and financial services organizations, including complex Federal and State tax planning, M&A tax transaction structuring, IRS & State exam resolution, tax department and external tax director outsourcing as well IFRS, GAAP and Statutory tax financial reporting and core tax compliance assistance. The Firm serves an international client base of domestic and foreign publicly traded and privately held insurance and reinsurance organizations located in Europe, Canada, Offshore Jurisdictions, and across the United States. The firm was founded in 2004 by Jason Simkin, CPA. Mr. Simkin has dedicated his 20+ year career to advising insurance companies on complex insurance tax issues. These areas have included M&A and reinsurance tax structuring, investment tax planning, organizational tax efficiency and optimization strategies, Joint Committee of Congress IRS exam case resolution, tax director outsourcing, global insurance tax compliance and IFRS/GAAP/SSAP 101 tax accounting to name a few. Mr. Simkin has personally served hundreds of publicly traded and privately held insurance companies , including domestic and foreign stock and mutual P&C and L&H insurance companies, reinsurance companies, risk retention groups, reciprocals, HMOs and captive insurance companies. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Simkin led a multi-regional area of Ernst & Young’s insurance tax practice and was a member of KPMG’s insurance tax practice. He received his Master’s degree from the University of Texas, at Austin, is a long-standing member and Past President of the Texas Chapter of the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (“IASA”) and has been a featured speaker at a variety of insurance industry conferences.
