المؤسسة العامة للري مؤسسة حكومية عامة استحدثت بموجب قرار مجلس الوزراء رقم (187) وتاريخ 15/4/1439هـ لتحل محل هيئة الري والصرف بالأحساء التي أنشئت عام 1392هـ بهدف القيام بأعمال إدارة وتشغيل وصيانة الري والصرف بالأحساء. وحسب قرار التأسيس تتمتع المؤسسة العامة للري بشخصية اعتبارية واستقلال مالي واداري مرتبطة بوزير البيئة والمياه والزراعة، وتتولى إدارة نشاط الري في عموم المملكة وتقوم بتشغيله وتطويره وتنقل اليها جميع المسئوليات والمهام المتعلقة بالري، وكذلك الجهات الحكومية العاملة في مجال الري مثل الإدارة الوطنية للري التي كانت تتبع لوكالة المياه بوزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة.
