THE STORY OF SIR GUSTAV
Ein echter Offenburger
Gustav Ree wurde 1810 in Offenburg geboren, studierte in Freiburg Philosophie und Rechtswissenschaften, bevor er 1845 zum Offenburger Oberbürgermeister aufstieg – 1848 rief er die badische Revolution aus.
Seit 1863 war er Mitglied der Freiburger Freimaurerloge:
Für die geheimen Treffen im Sinne der Freiheit, Gleichheit und Menschlichkeit hatte Gustav seine eigenen Räumlichkeiten bereitgestellt. Er starb 1869, doch 150 Jahre später leben seine Ideale weiter.
