Site Studio Landscape Architects is a Vancouver based practise focused on creating thoughtful, elevated, enduring and highly usable spaces that inspire connection with their surroundings. Our purposefully small team shares over 30 years of exceptional experience. Our approach is rooted in carefully listening to a client’s vision and values, a high level of client service, and positive collaboration with architects, contractors and consultants to enhance relationships between buildings, landscapes and people. We seek at every stage to build consensus through clear communication of vision, purpose and intention for a project. Early conceptual stages typically present multiple options designed to invite client feedback on preferred ways of arranging use and experiencing one’s surroundings. A mixture between evocative hand-drawn plan sketches and precedent images allow clients to understand the ‘why’ behind each pen stroke, but also to be able to visualize the spaces well before they are built. Our projects gain endurance from pragmatic functional placemaking that invokes the natural climatic opportunities of a site for optimal and prolonged enjoyment. Once a design is agreed upon, we flush out the details through the design of planting, lighting, and all other landscape elements. Materials are carefully chosen for their resilience, suitability to and enhancement of place alongside a client’s stylistic preferences. Though our details are rigorously developed and often custom, they should feel effortless and appropriate for how they enhance one’s experience without dominating their surroundings. The edges of our projects flow naturally beyond their legal boundaries through borrowed views and careful screening to create a sense of expansiveness, flow and connection.
