Skamper’s mission is to inspire UK runners to explore their local areas and find great running routes wherever they are. We’ve curated 3,500 of Britain’s Best Runs and built an app that helps runners navigate these routes intuitively and safely. With custom, downloadable maps, Skamper suggests routes between checkpoints, avoiding traffic where possible, and offering audible warnings when necessary. We even pause the timer at busy crossings to ensure safety remains a top priority. Skamper uses a unique algorithm to grade every run, allowing you to track your performance over time and compare it with runners of different ages and genders. The app provides accurate run time estimates and includes a safety alert feature that informs friends or family when you start a run, where you’re going, and when you should finish. Skamper isn’t just an activity tracker or social media app. It integrates with Strava and Garmin, allowing you to focus purely on the run. From scenic 5k routes in city parks to tough mountain challenges, Skamper offers a variety of expert-curated runs. While some routes may require a short journey, we believe the reward of a great run makes it worthwhile. Many of our circular routes can be started from any point, offering flexibility for all runners. We believe that expert-created routes are safer and more reliable than those generated by AI or community users. Feedback confirms this, with 95% of our routes earning 4 or 5-star ratings. If a route falls short, we adjust it to meet our standards. We see Skamper as the Netflix of running—offering high-quality, curated routes compared to other apps that function like YouTube or TikTok. Just as streaming has transformed how people watch films, we see running evolving with "anytime races" alongside traditional events.
