Skip-A-Beat is an independent record label & creative community, based in Mumbai, India with a commitment to showcasing the finest in emerging electronic music compositions across the region. Started four years ago by multi-media artist SPRYK as a radio show on boxout.fm, SKP now has over 40 episodes under its belt. In its alternate existence as a label, it focuses on endorsing ambient, beat oriented and experimental electronic music.
Boasting releases from artists like Okedo, YNZN.P and Non Linear, the catalogue is building itself in a unique direction. Skip A Beat has also become a community favorite in a short period of time by providing a platform for artists to be heard and for like minded people to create / collaborate. The visual direction was provided by Sajid Wajid Shaikh, who has only enhanced the unique identity the label is cultivating for itself.
In addition to the label and radio show, Skip A Beat has a hand in many art / multimedia projects. The label has curated two editions of ‘Red Bull Premieres’, which was an artist spotlight series and ‘Selector Pro: Visual Music Residency’, which was organized in collaboration with The British Council & Future Fiction.
