Skowronnek & Bechnak are international Risk & Insurance Advisors with offices in Hamburg and Tokyo and representation in Melbourne supporting new technologies with achieving enhanced insurability and subsequent bankability and aiming at reasonable risk allocation and correct insurance provisions in contracts.
Our focus is on Offshore Wind and Floating Offshore Wind. We have 40 GW personal experience with Offshore Wind projects, 25 GW personal experience with Insurance Advisory and 6 floater types in Western Europe, Taiwan, Japan and Australia.
Since we assumed our independent role in early 2019, we have successfully supported a number of Clients in achieving an enhanced level of insurability for new technologies, such as e.g. Herrenknecht for the world’s first vertical monopile drilling machine for St. Nazaire OWF, 6 different types of floaters and several station keeping systems. We have also supported our Clients in a number of contractual negotiations, having a long experience with insurance coverage necessary on either side of the project and being well versed in both liability and Knock for Knock regime.
Our company was established to provide an early technology insurability and insurance contractual negotiations support – services complementary to and supportive for the services of an insurance broker who benefits from the early works alongside with our Clients. As such, we are not a competitor to a broker and we do not provide insurance coverage but rather support projects at an early, pre-placement phase, focusing on technical aspects of new technologies and how these should best be addressed and presented to insurers to qualify for an enhanced level of insurance coverage which is a condition to bankability.
We also perform risk & insurance due diligence on behalf of vendors, investors and sponsors and act on a number of Offshore Wind projects as Lenders Insurance Advisors.
