Slendine AG is a biotech company limited by shares and based in Basel Switzerland. The company was originally established in Lugano in March 2015 by the Polymer Engineer Paolo Costa.
The company is engaged in the development of 2 product candidates: Slendine Tablet and Slendine Micro. Both solutions aim at the diseases connected with metabolic syndrome but with a particular focus on Obesity, Weight loss, Fatty Liver Disease and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Slendine Tablet is a pre-clinical solution made of FDA approved food ingredients and which is manufactured without any chemical modifications. Slendine Tablet has successfully completed pre-clinical trials in artificial stomachs. Extensive human trials are due to begin in June 2017.
Slendine Micro is made of the same components as Slendine Tablet but it comes in a powder-like embodiment that can be easily added to processed foods as well as home-made foods. Slendine Micro is still in development stage in a planned cooperation with our partner universities.
Slendine is a patented bio-fiber solution made of natural insoluble ingredients which are structured in peculiar way to volumetrically sequester calories in the stomach. Sequestered calories are therefore subtracted from chemical digestion by secreted and brush border enzymes and from absorption into the body by transporters in the Duodenum and Jejunum. At the same time, the absorbed calories are subtracted from being chewed by the bacteria in the Colon to avoid any side effects typical of other solutions.
Slendine is taken after a meal (in tablets) or with the meal (in added powder). Due to its specific design, Slendine preferentially sequesters monosaccharides, disaccharides and polysaccharides (sugars and starches) as well as other simple liquefied fats found in the pre-chyme stomach liquid.
