Oliver Hannan started SLYSTEEL around his designs for the Shark Tooth Tactical and Shark Tooth Hunter knives with the Patented Split Finger Guard. He designed the C.U.M.A. Lone Survivor, a bushcraft kukri-style knife. That knife was the concept of TOPS knife designer, Controlled F.O.R.C.E. certified combat instructor and martial artist Waysun Johnny Tsai of the Chicago-based C.U.M.A. Survivor School. More than two years of design and six months of rigorous testing and evaluation have resulted in a remarkably well balanced and versatile survival tool. The Lone Survivor combines the functionality demanded by modern survivalists, while remaining faithful to its kukri inspiration.
