We put donate buttons on social media posts. At Small Change, we're fighting slacktivism - the flawed idea that liking, sharing or re-tweeting media content helps address the world's problems. Through Small Change, anyone can add a donate button to the content they share online, allowing their friends and followers to make simple, small donations to related charities with the push of a button. Small Change is much more than just a donation platform. It makes charitable giving social, shareable and media-driven. By tying donations to specific media content, we can track what’s making waves and driving donations across social media; something similar to the ‘real time music charts’ except for media content addressing real world issues. Too often social media is used to bemoan the state of the world and add noise to an already noisy system. The world’s problems will not be solved by a comment or a hashtag.
