Our goal is to alleviate global poverty through microfinance, and we can proudly say that we have made significant progress toward our goal.
Small Step Loans began as a simple high school club, meeting sporadically every few weeks. However, we had a vision, and SSL began to flourish from that point. Our chapters engage in fundraising efforts within their local communities to generate capital. We select entrepreneurs to support through pitch competitions hosted in collaboration with our university partners. Our mission is to assist struggling entrepreneurs worldwide, creating a meaningful global impact both within and beyond our communities.
Small Step Loans has successfully loaned out over $10,000 within the past few years. Helping thousands of families every year, our impact has been spread across 27+ countries with the help of over 100+ club members and 17+ chapters. We are partnered with the CEO of Kiva, Kiva Youth, UPenn Microfinance, Berkeley Microfinance, and many other college clubs. With SSL eclipsing 100+ international borrowers, we strive for more. We are currently in the 98th percentile of loan partners on Kiva with us investing in 93% of sectors, helping thousands of entrepreneurs daily. Our impact doesn't stop here - it is only beginning.
