Smart Voter® is a comprehensive source of unbiased election information for the public. It does not support or oppose candidates for public office or political parties, and does not take positions in favor of or in opposition to ballot measures. Our mission is to provide unbiased online information that improves the quality of decisions made in our democratic process and results in more responsive and effective government for everyone. Smart Voter® is one of the only online services to offer comprehensive ballot information that includes local as well as state/federal candidates and measures. The service is offered via a partnership with the state or local League of Women Voters and election officials in various communities around the U.S. It was among the first services to provide voter information online, initially as part of Joint Venture Silicon Valley and then as a service of the nonprofit League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (LWVCEF) beginning in 1997. Smart Voter® is a registered trademark of the LWVCEF, which is a Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
