From there, it can do anything a user can – insert or extract virtually any type of data, such as documents, discrete data elements, chart notes, images, scheduling, internal messages, tasks, etc. For example, discrete data such as diagnosis & medications that are available in the HIE but not in the EHR can be added to an upcoming EHR encounter, including a progress note with details.
SDC bypasses the limitations of vendor-specific interpretations of interoperability standards, leaves a complete audit trail of the data accessed, and eliminates the need for EHR vendor
involvement. SDC also requires no involvement from clinic staff or IT department.
