Smartlink Health offers an Integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) that has the unique ability to integrate with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems via the user interface (UI). Smartlink also supports traditional integration methods like API, HL7, and database. Our solution, Smartlink Data Connector (SDC), has built-in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) capabilities designed to handle the complexities and behaviors of EHRs. The software logs into an EHR system just like a remote user. From there, it can do anything a user can – insert or extract virtually any type of data, such as documents, discrete data elements, chart notes, images, scheduling, internal messages, tasks, etc. For example, discrete data such as diagnosis & medications that are available in the HIE but not in the EHR can be added to an upcoming EHR encounter, including a progress note with details. SDC bypasses the limitations of vendor-specific interpretations of interoperability standards, leaves a complete audit trail of the data accessed, and eliminates the need for EHR vendor involvement. SDC also requires no involvement from clinic staff or IT department.
