Smart Start of New Hanover County shares a deep commitment with the community to the well-being and future success of our youngest children. As part of a statewide early childhood initiative, Smart Start of NHC serves as a local leader in developing a comprehensive and collaborative approach to meet the needs of all children from birth to age five in New Hanover County. The first 2,000 days of a child’s life are crucial. In this period between birth and kindergarten, a child’s brain develops to 90% of its adult size, and children are primed for learning. Access to high-quality healthcare and learning environments during this time is essential. Smart Start partners with a network of state and local services to ensure every child has the opportunity to enter school ready to thrive. Smart Start of New Hanover County: * Provides a community-based, comprehensive approach for all children ages 0-5 and their families. * Funds services in three key areas: health, family support, and early care and education. * Fosters innovation and collaboration to address unmet needs and improve service delivery for children and families in the community.
