The Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) is a hands-on learning experience where students research, test, and apply leading investment strategies from both academia and industry. Our goal is to enhance the probability of outperforming the market through data-driven decision-making and disciplined portfolio management. SMIF is structured into three sub-portfolios that work together to create a well-diversified and actively managed fund. The asset allocation team focuses on optimizing portfolio diversification to enhance returns while managing risk. The stock selection team conducts fundamental and quantitative analysis to identify high-potential equities. The managed risk strategies team utilizes derivatives to hedge risk and enhance portfolio efficiency. Beyond return generation, our teams emphasize risk management as a critical component of performance.
