Smit Old Age Home and Care Foundation is an NGO working for destitute senior citizens, orphans, mentally - morally unstable, and missing people since 2010. Mrs. Yojana Gharat is the founder and president of this foundation.
The vision of our founder and the passion, able guidance, and sheer dedication of the present leadership, has ensured that SMIT goes from strength to strength. We understand the deepest needs of our residents. The trio of iron ladies managing affairs of SMIT not only understand but also relate incredibly well to the feelings of being unwanted, the sadness felt at being left out.
We know what being lonely and helpless means. We know that providing a bed to sleep on and three meals a day isn’t enough- even though it is necessary. Being attentive to the emotional as well as psychological well-being of the elderly while taking care of their health and comfort is among our top priorities.
SMIT believes in giving all residents a family. A circle of friends. A group of people with whom they can share the life they led, the mistakes they made, the times when they laughed!
SMIT aims to ensure comfort. SMIT gives its best at the institutional level to provide all reasonable amenities. That doesn’t mean the joy on the faces of our residents is something we can ever compromise with.

Right from well-trained staff for handling all affairs of our institution to ensuring sufficient comfort of residents, we have a comprehensive plan of action that ensures all residents have a life that they find worth living.
The need for reasonable standards of medical care is an integral part of handling the welfare of seniors, orphans as well as mentally unstable people. At SMIT, we ensure all residents have access to proper medical care even for minor ailments. We make lives better. At times, we save lives!
