SNEW was created in 2013 when its founder, Martijn van Engelen merged his existing operations with exciting new ideas and developed the current concept named SNEW (as-new).
Circular telecom and IT with a social heart
We don’t let anything that still has value go to waste. We give business IT and telecom a second life. We keep telephone exchanges up and running, even long after the manufacturer has stopped supporting them. We believe that refurbishing is better for the environment than recycling. And it’s also cheaper than replacing it. We give people with a distance from the labor market a second chance because their value must not be lost either.
Awards & Recognitions:
Our comprehensive commitment to environmental protection and social development has already garnered a national award (Circular Award), as well as a provincial award (Golden Circle) and a good deal of international media attention. SNEW can be seen as the creator and inventor of Eco-social Recycling. We work closely with local governments and existing social and ecological recycling programs to achieve our goals within the local economies.
PSO certification - Inclusive employment
We not only give a second life to ICT products, but we also offer a second chance to employees with a distance from the labor market. In 2018 and 2020, SNEW achieved Level 3 and 30+ Procurement Act (ABW)-recognition on the Social Entrepreneurship Performance Ladder (PSO) ladder. The PSO aims to help more people with a vulnerable (labor market) position, find work in a sustainable and high-quality way.
Economy for the Common Good (ECG) certification – Sustainable business
To obtain this certification, SNEW has carried out a company evaluation under the guidance of Ware Winst Brabant. Attention was paid to social welfare, environment and sustainability, transparency, and (chain) cooperation. This indicates that SNEW has been assessed as an honest and sustainable company.
