Building great software and supporting processes is an art. I recognize that inclusive, collaborative teamwork – beyond the boundaries of roles, departments, divisions and even companies – is key to making the journey of building great software and supporting processes work in a world that is in a state of continuous change. A clear vision, trust, transparency and agility combined with an intrinsic motivation for continuous improvement are catalysts for a sustained adaptation to an ever-changing environment. It sounds simple, but seeing the world around us as it really is and keeping what we’re doing aligned with reality takes a lot of courage from all of us. Named after the ski resort where the Agile Manifesto for Software Development (agilemanifesto.org) emerged in 2001, I live by the leading principles behind the Manifesto which are still so relevant today they could have been written up yesterday. What I do: Product Owner: Support business representatives during their journey from vision and goal definition to feature definition, prioritization and realization. Business and Functional Analysis: Support Product Owner activities by ensuring software and business processes remain aligned while ensuring root causes of business problems are resolved rather than symptoms cured. Scrum Master: Nourish the “glue” that turns a collection of individuals into a team. Support the team in applying the processes and practices of Scrum and help the team in being the best they possibly can. “Classic” Project Management: Release planning and management (time, scope, resources), budget management, risk management, stakeholder communication and management.
