SOAF is a professional non-profit association for the promotion and dissemination of the scientific field of Operations Research in Sweden. SOAF was founded in 1959 with the dual purpose of promoting the development within the different branches of operations research, and work for its application within different problem domains. The association is a member of The International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS), which represents organizations in more than fifty countries, with more than 25 000 members in total. The organization is also a member of the European IFORS group The Association of European Operational Research Societies (EURO).
