Southern California Genetic Counselors

The mission of the SCGC is to advocate for the genetic counseling profession and genetic counseling services in Southern California by expanding awareness of the profession, promoting genetic education, increasing patient access to genetic services, and providing genetic resources. Goals 1. Establish and maintain a directory of area genetic counselors. 2. Establish and maintain useful referral sources. 3. Promote genetics education with annual education conferences for genetic counselors and other genetic professionals with provision of CEUs. 4. Promote community genetics education with a genetic counselors’ speakers bureau. 5. Promote visibility of area genetic counselors. 6. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for genetic counselors. 7. Promote the genetic counseling profession by starting special interest groups for potential genetic counseling students in area community colleges and undergraduate institutions.
