The Social Brain Lab (SBL) at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience aims to unravel the neural mechanisms of social cognition through the joint effort of the Gazzola and Keysers groups. A range of neuroscience tools are used to image, measure, and manipulate brain activity to discover the brain regions and processes underlying social cognition on a network, cell, and molecular level. Our mission is to decode how our brains understand and respond to others’ feelings and intentions to find new and better treatments for patients with impairments in social interaction to improve their lives and those of their loved ones.
