About SohoStar Rwanda Ltd

SohoStar Rwanda, Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the SohoStar Corporation of Denver, Colorado. Please refer all contacts or questions to David Roland ceo@sohostar.com. SohoStar has been developing cloud computing services in Rwanda. It is part of the global SohoStar Network providing communications services, with very specific intellectual property, owned exclusively by the US Parent. SohoStar Rwanda developed a network design for the Government of Rwanda to implement a national communication network. The backbone was built from satellite downlinks and initially terrestrial radio modems configured as a mesh network of nodes. Each node had redundant controls providing content distribution and network coordination to traffic (edge) concentrators. Each concentrator covered an area of 300M square meters, overlapped in a hexagon grid. Each concentrator could provide 4,000 voice calls in an urban deployment using Akanyana phones, supporting a population density of 2,000 people per sqkm. All equipment was intended for solar power and radio modems were not line of sight. Engineering development has continued to develop solutions for rural America with minimal infrastructure and usage costs. The Akanyana phones were developed specifically for SohoStar with an end user cost of $25USD and no usage costs for voice and text carried over the national network. Infrastructure costs for the 45 primary nodes was approximately $1000USD each, and licensing from RURA was $8,000 per year. A government agency agreed to fund the project with a PPP, which was then reneged when the primary GoR contact attempted to compete directly with SohoStar. In the end, the contact died in a 2am head-on car accident in Kigali, before delivering on any promises. The Government then accepted overtures from Korean Telecom with rumored bribery. SohoStar RW still has assets in Rwanda.
