Solar Avenir is a Cleantech company that invests-in and operates early and growth stage companies in the solar industry. Solar Avenir has invested in a fundamentally different solar panel manufacturing startup, TapeSolar, and is actively pursuing an investment in a disruptive battery technology that would allow cost-effective energy storage. Additionally, Solar Avenir is seeking technologies that dramatically improve efficiency, lower cost and improve the overall value proposition of solar and enables solar to become the energy source of choice for the future. Solar Avenir’s management team has invested in over 100 business ventures, raised over $500 million in early stage capital, taken 7 companies public, enabled commercialization of early stage technologies, established and managed large-scale manufacturing operations and has deep, meaningful relationships with large corporations, government agencies and prominent families across the globe. Solar Avenir was formed with a single goal of “Making Solar the Default Source of Energy”. We want solar to provide most of our energy in the future, when the sun is shining and also when it is not - no half measures. And that is the reason why, apart from investing in energy generation (TapeSolar), we are now on the cusp of investing in energy storage (battery technology). In the near future, we will also seek to invest in companies that bring dramatic improvement in system integration, balance of system and other innovation that comes along the way. We are tired of hearing that “Silicon is the future for solar panels and lithium-ion is the only viable solution for energy storage; most of the disruptive innovation in the solar industry has already happened over the past 6-7 years and all we can expect now is marginal improvement” – well, wait and watch.
