SOLM exists to support regenerative hospitality by centering local voices, conserving environments, and expanding education and opportunity for women, youth, and communities. We believe tourism shouldn’t extract value from communities but help them thrive on their own terms. For us, regenerative hospitality means designing systems that restore rather than deplete—systems that honor local traditions, protect cultural and ecological heritage, and create inclusive, community-driven opportunities. Our work is rooted in place, guided by care, and focused on real, lived needs. We partner with communities to shape hospitality that is truly regenerative through initiatives that: • Foster education and skills training for women and youth, building local leadership and economic opportunity. • Conserve and celebrate cultural practices, crafts, and ecological knowledge while supporting sustainable innovation. • Incubate creative solutions in arts, agriculture, and design that strengthen local economies and reduce dependency on imports. SOLM is both a philosophy and a practice. We don’t arrive with ready-made solutions. Instead, we collaborate closely with local leaders, co-design programs with community members, and commit to long-term, shared outcomes. Our approach is rooted in slow design, deep listening, and collective ownership. Currently based in Calhau, São Vicente, Cabo Verde, we are working to transform how tourism develops on the island by supporting community-driven education, conservation, and innovation. From ceramics programs that reconnect youth to local craft traditions, to agricultural initiatives that strengthen food sovereignty, every project is a step toward hospitality that truly serves both people and place.
