Solstice Renewables operated from 2013 to 2016 developing over 100MW of large-scale solar pv parks across the UK. Solstice was recognised both in the UK and internationally for their industry leading, holistic approach to development principally due to the biodiversity works and community benefits they created on each site.
Biodiversity - most of the 600 acres beneath and around our solar farms were sown with wildflower and wild grass meadows, and bee hives introduced.
Agriculture - the solar farms are designed for sheep to graze under the whole panel area after the hay cut over autumn and winter.
Community benefits - financial community benefits for local projects such as bringing high speed broadband to a community with only dial up speeds.
Educational benefits - created industry leading educational programs allowing the schools surrounding each solar farm to visit the site annually to learn about shading, citizenship, electricity, and renewable energy.
Community ownership - were at the forefront of the booming industry for community owned renewables and successfully developed one of the first "5+5" commercial and community owned projects.
