Somali Scholars

Somali Scholars is a registered not-for-profit organization aimed at supporting first and second year undergraduate Somali students in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with the best learning experiences and with building their professional career journey. Participants in the Somali Scholars programs are each paired with a professional mentor in the industry and take part in monthly workshops to further develop highly sought out skills (i.e time management, prioritization, studying and writing, financial literacy, interview skills). The mission of the program is to increase the Somali student retention rates in universities by providing young students with access to resources to help them thrive rather than just survive. Somali Scholars is a platform for Somali students to connect in real life to form meaningful relationships whist building transferrable skills that can be beneficial in the real world. We believe by creating a space for Somali students and by inspiring each other along the way, this will help close the educational gap and encourage students to strive for success.
