About Somatic Grief Work

Laurie Clark, Bereavement Companion and Group Facilitator, facilitates groups to offer a safe haven for the bereft to share vulnerable grief stories associated with a significant loss of a loved one. The collective wisdom of the group springs forth from the tapestry of interweaving grief stories. Somatic connections are deeply cultivated in group storytelling and leave participants feeling less isolated as they navigate their grief process. The word bereavement comes from the root word “reave, with a literal meaning of being torn apart. The shock of losing a significant love relationship may feel crushing, daunting, and disordered in diverse and unpredictable expressions of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. In the face of adversity, one may feel isolated when mourning a loss. Laurie Clark, RECE and mentor for youth, is also an advocate for Nature connection on the elementary school playground. She incorporates eco-literacy curriculum strands with somatic-sensory play in Nature's classroom. Nature can also be a companion that soothes grief-stricken emotions. Laurie considers it an absolute privilege to hold a safe space for vulnerable people experiencing a significant loss. Monthly Bereavement Groups: This monthly support group is for those who are experiencing a significant loss of a loved one. We will share each other's grief stories so as not to feel isolated in one's grief process. Laurie accompanies the bereft to help them navigate loss by holding a safe and confidential space for vulnerable grief stories to be shared and mourned together in community.
