We inspire and empower communities and businesses and all who live and work in Somerset to share a passion for Somerset and to encourage them to celebrate all the county has to offer. We celebrate and promote the economy, history, heritage, beauty and culture of Somerset. We promote and support engagement and togetherness across this diverse county – One county for all and equal opportunities for all. We champion Somerset as the breadbasket of the UK locally, nationally and internationally. We support and enable businesses to use the Somerset brand for success and growth. We inspire, encourage and empower young people of Somerset to play an active role in the future success of the county and to build their futures in the county. We recognise, celebrate and reward the amazing people of, and places in, Somerset. We aim to be a catalyst to encourage and inspire everyone in Somerset to join together, to have fun and celebrate the unique, diverse, friendly and wonderful place that is the county of Somerset. Our work builds up to ‘Somerset Day’ held on the second Saturday in May every year, in honour of King Alfred the Great’s routing of the Vikings from his stronghold in the Somerset marshes in May 878. Patrons include Mrs Anne Maw, Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, His grace the Duke of Somerset, The Rt Revd Ruth Worsley, Bishop of Taunton and Michael Eavis CBE.
