Sona Institutions

Established in 1920 by Sri Karumuttu Thiagarajar, the Sona Group has shaped Tamilnadu's education history. Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Salem, founded in 1958, aimed for a prosperous, education-focused India. In 1997, Shri M.S. Chockalingam established Sona College of Technology, emphasizing research and innovation. Shri. C. Valliappa, current Chairman, elevated the institution to world-class standards, expanding the Sona Group. Under his guidance, Sona Group includes the Sona School of Business Management, Sona College of Arts and Science, Sona Valliappa Public School, and Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga. Sri. C. Valliappa's leadership extended beyond Sona Group, with prestigious positions in Chamber of Commerce, FKCCI, BCIC, KTMA, among others. Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman, played a pivotal role in IT, administration, international business, strategic planning, and marketing. Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, Vice Chairman, brought youthful energy, holding patents for innovations like the world's first stretchable silk and mosquito repellent garment. His creations, including Play Factory, Sona Valliappa Mill, Sona Miller, Sona Star Innovation Pvt Ltd, and Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga, established Sona Group as a global brand.
