Sorbenta Inc. is developing an innovative class of sorbents to remove and concentrate harmful, environmentally persistent ‘forever chemicals’ (i.e., per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, PFAS) from a broad range of waters globally. Our sorbents have superior capacity for PFAS removal and achieve specificity for PFAS over background water co-constituents that may be present at orders of magnitude greater concentrations. The sorbents are drop-in replacements for ion exchange resins and are being currently validated at the pilot scale in municipal water treatment facilities. Sorbenta, Inc. has the exclusive worldwide license to the patent for commercialization of this innovative class of materials developed at UNC Chapel Hill.
