Sosped Foundation is a nationwide Finnish non-governmental organization working in the social and health sector to strengthen wellbeing, agency, and inclusion — especially among young people and adults facing mental health challenges, addictions or difficult life situations.
Our work is grounded in social pedagogy, which emphasizes community, participation, and the power of peer support. We create safe, diagnosis-free environments where individuals are met as whole people, not through labels. Through creative and experiential methods, we support recovery, connection, and the rediscovery of personal resources.
We specialize in functional addictions (such as gambling, digital gaming, and problematic social media use), as well as promoting community-based recovery for those facing loneliness, exclusion, or life disruption. Sosped’s initiatives include peer-led culture workshops, media production programs, support for those affected by romance fraud, and projects that promote economic recovery after gambling-related harm.
At the core of our work is the belief that everyone has the capacity to belong, participate, and grow. We provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers and experts by experience, who play an active role in both delivering and co-developing our activities.
Sosped Foundation is primarily funded by STEA (Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations, under the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health). We employ over 40 professionals and coordinate projects across Finland. International collaboration is an integral part of our development, as we co-create and share inclusive practices for social wellbeing with partners across Europe.
