SPACE/explorers of the continuous present

SPACE is an art initiative based in Amsterdam and Budapest that works with immersive storytelling in various media, documentary theatre and human-centred social design. SPACE's projects are radical scenarios in which both creators and audiences practice restoring and building relationships with 'the other'; with people and nature. SPACE aims to awaken the lesser-known, unused or repressed areas of the imagination and search together for alternative, unheard, multi-voiced stories of interconnectedness. In its projects, SPACE brings together artists from different disciplines (theatre, spoken word, literature and visual arts) and also often collaborates with partners outside the art world such as scientists, social initiatives and local communities. SPACE aims to facilitate dialogue between art, different knowledge communities and social bubbles. 'We believe that change starts from within and are convinced that co-creative art experiences can cause cultural shifts, enable fundamental changes and collaborations, even in circumstances where nothing else seems to work anymore.' -Artistic director, Petra Ardai- SPACE is a project-funded non-profit organisation with a solid network in the Netherlands and Europe. SPACE is funded by Creative Europe for its Common Ground Dialogues project between 2023-25.
