About Supporting People and Rebuilding Communities -SPaRC
SPaRC is an Indigenous women-led feminist organisation established in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Bangladesh. SPaRC works with a specific focus on Indigenous women, girls and communities who are often ignored, have no access to resources and are survivors of communal attack, conflict, Violence Against Women, Gender Based Violence, and systematic oppression such as misinformation, intergenerational trauma and suffering. Our Vision: To create a world where all living beings enjoy their rights with dignity. Our mission To ensure women and girls’ social, cultural, economic, political, sexual and spiritual rights without prejudice of any identity such as age, sex, caste, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc. What We Do: *Dismantle Patriarchy We know and understand the harm patriarchy imposes. We challenge it locally, nationally and globally. We challenge patriarchal leadership, customs and practices that put burdens on women’s and others’ lives based on their identity. We are committed to gender equality, rights and dignity, sustainable development, justice and peace. We value our physical, mental and spiritual health and connections among us and with the mother earth. *Busting myth & misinformation Throughout history, Indigenous communities have been subjected to misinformation. We bust the myth and misinformation by putting Indigenous and Indigenous feminist narratives on the table through content, storytelling and our research work. *Capacity Building: Indigenous & Feminist perspective We build the capacity of youths to understand the world is not monogamous- Inclusivity is the answer. We spread information, and tools by conducting training, workshops, feminist circles, and storytelling. We provide tools to investigate issues- not from a majority gaze but rather from a respectful feminist and Indigenous lens. Contact us if you want to collaborate: sparc.bangladesh@gmail.com
