Sara Hadgraft has over 25 years of experience working with children and families. She began my professional life with a five-year tenure as a teacher at Pinson Valley High School in Pinson, Alabama. After several years of focused investment in my own children, she began working with the children and families of a local church. She served as the Children's Ministry Coordinator for 4 years before deciding to apply to graduate school. While pursuing her Masters in Counseling, she served as a counselor for abused and neglected children and their parents at a child advocacy center in Jefferson County, AL. She also gained invaluable experience as a grief counselor to families during my internship at The Amelia Center at Children's of Alabama. Her education, training and experience has led her to start Sparrow Counseling in Birmingham, AL and practice a philosophy of therapy that values understanding and welcomes any opportunity to facilitate both recovery from trauma and rediscovery of hope for her clients whatever their age or story. Her philosophy and practice of therapy is profoundly shaped by her personal faith in Christ, but she always defer to the client to determine the role of spirituality in their personal therapeutic plan.
