About St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership

Established in 1962, the Partnership is a shareholder supported, not-for-profit organization focused on promoting urban growth and redevelopment that strengthens and diversifies the economy in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Our shareholders are local businesses and institutions who support a variety of economic development projects that might not otherwise happen without the Partnership’s involvement. Our efforts focus around three key values: building high-quality, sustainable jobs; contributing to St. Pete’s overall business culture; and supporting St. Pete’s emerging technology industry. Our initiatives are diverse and ever-changing to reflect the opportunities and needs of a vibrant city. More than 50 years ago, the organization was key in establishing what is now the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, for example. We are a Transportation Management Organization and operate the St. Petersburg Trolley service in cooperation with the City and the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority. Besides the daily downtown public circulator known as the Looper, St. Petersburg Trolley also provides charter service that facilitates dozens of public and private special events a year, from Tampa Bay Rays Baseball games to the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. We continue to be a valuable partner in the growth and expansion of the St. Petersburg marine science sector, including the USF College of Marine Science. We helped establish the St. Pete Innovation District and been a major contributor to the Warehouse Arts District and the ArtsXchange, a renovation project that will provide sustainable long-term, low-cost studios for artists to ensure the city’s arts economy continues to grow and thrive. We have provided private sector support to position St. Petersburg to take advantage of changing relationships with Cuba and we remain an integral part of the city’s economic development infrastructure.
